The expressed intention of the Collegiate Day of Prayer has been and continues to be to unite believers in prayer for spiritual awakening.
Again this year, collegiate ministries of every shape and size prayed together for God to manifest His presence on their campuses. The older generation, involved in a wide range of churches and denominations, also linked arms with students by praying for them.
In the end, over 1,900 campus ministries, churches, and individuals registered to pray for over 1,500 campuses! Increasingly, carrying the concern of our nation’s students and faculty, the body of Christ is flying in formation.
But our mission is not yet complete. Until God draws near, reviving believers by the power of His Spirit and sweeping multitudes of lost students into His kingdom, we must be relentless in our asking, seeking, and knocking (Luke 11:9).
The Greek words Jesus used in that verse actually convey the idea that we are to ask and keep asking, knock and keep knocking, seek and keep seeking. And through it all, let’s remember that God loves to answer prayer (Luke 11:10-13).
As we continue to rejoice over what God did during the 2015 CDOP—and even though the 2016 CDOP might seem far in the future—let’s keep in step with the Spirit all year by inviting more people to join us in prayer; that is, increase the number of allies in the battle, move forward in our prayerful agreement for spiritual awakening, and pray until God answers.
In short, let’s become adept at flying in formation all year. What we do after the Collegiate Day of Prayer is just as important as the CDOP itself.
Please put the next CDOP on your calendar today: Thursday, February 25, 2016. We can’t wait!
